Mechaton: Macross Era

May 13, 2008

2009, the aliens came.

Earth

Our one hope, the flagship built on alien technology, the SDF-1, attempts to warp to low orbit during the initial attack, only to completely disappear, taking with it, the entire island of Macross where it was docked.

It would be several months before humanity learns that the SDF-1 along with the island of Macross were folded out to Pluto. While the SDF-1 and the majority of our mecha forces fight their way back towards Earth past the Zentradi fleets, we find ourselves fighting against recon forces with the few remaining mecha we have at our disposal, and our factories try to churn them out as quickly as possible as we expect to face the Zentradi alone.

Zentran

A prototype vessel, with amazing technology and possibly the last sources of precious Protoculture reactors is hurtling through space. Without it, we die. There will be no more clones, no more life, not even the means to defend ourselves against the many enemies we have made over the eons. It will not be a glorious warrior’s death, it will be a helpless dog, eaten by the rats, and it will be every Zentradi to the last.

We were not made to live nor die like this.

This ship is the last hope of our race. We will not let some backwards micronians who have just grasped the basics of anti-gravity take the last source of protoculture just to light up the mudball they call a homeworld. As always, only one group may live, and as always, we must be the ones.

Mechaton, aka, the rules of engagement.

The Robotech Defense Force of Earth

The VF-1A Valkyrie

Mobility x2
Direct Fire x1

Special Type: The Armored Valkyrie instead uses Mobility x1, Armor x1, Direct Fire x2. Instead of attacking or spotting in a turn, the Armored Valkyrie can shed it’s armor, returning it to the normal VF-1A stats. It can only do this provided it has not lost more than 1 component (and not the mobility component). It still counts as a 4 component mech, and never gains the initiative bonus for only having 3 components.

Armored Valkyries are not available until halfway through the first Robotech War.

The VF-1S Super Valkyrie

Mobility x2
Direct Fire x2

Special Rule: Can only have one VF-1S per scenario.

The Defender

Spotting x2
Direct Fire x1
Artillery x1

The MAC 2 Monster

Artillery x2
Armor x2

The Phalanx

Direct Fire x1
Artillery x1
Armor x1
Spotting x1

The Spartan/Gladiator

Melee x2
Armor x1
Ranged x1

The Tomahawk/Excalibur

Direct Fire x2
Armor x1
Artillery x1

Zentraedi Forces

The Battlepod

Mobility x2
Direct Fire x1

The Light Artillery Battlepod

Mobility x1
Direct Fire x1
Artillery x1

The Heavy Artillery Battlepod

Direct Fire x1
Artillery x2

The Tactical Recon Battlepod

Mobility x2
Spotting x1

Officer’s Battlepod

Armor x1
Artillery x1
Direct Fire x1
Mobility x1

Female Officer’s Power Armor

Mobility x1
Direct Fire x2
Armor x1

Special Rules- Female officers (and the female fleet) doesn’t arrive until halfway through the Robotech War.

Zentradi Soldiers (squad, armed & armored)

Melee x2
Spotting x1
Direct Fire x1

Special Rules

The Zentraedi are never outnumbered, and, in most scenarios, should have at least 2 more units than Earth Forces, but not more than double.

Now I need to find the right legos to properly set up my forces! Of course, I could just buy a bunch of Macross Kubricks, but all I’ve seen is Veritechs, really.
