Five Fires Beta

November 6, 2014

I’ve mentioned Quinn Murphy’s Five Fives hiphop RPG before, and he’s got the beta up for free download.

I’ve been lucky enough to playtest this before and the thing I like the most about it is that it does several things which fit a hiphop game perfectly – it focuses on art as a passion, trying to do your art in the face of simple, real world problems, and the fact that much of your ability to overcome problems is half access and half hustling to work around lack of access.  The city you create becomes its own character and you build up stories and mythology of the city in your game, which is another key part of a lot of hiphop – community is history is people is places and times, all tied together.   And how it treats hiphop?  It’s really important that all of the art is both about your own goals and explorations as much as the interpretation of the art and how it fits with the community around you – or not.

Anyway, check it out, play it and if you like it, consider supporting Quinn on his Patreon page.
